Police Reports: Car broken into while driver was in gas station, numerous other cars burglarized

These reports were pulled from the latest police summaries provided by departments in our coverage area (Wilmette, Winnetka, Northfield, Kenilworth and Glencoe).
WILMETTE
Feb. 6
• At least three cars reportedly were broken into overnight. Cash reportedly was stolen from a vehicle in the 1300 block of Elmwood and also a car in the 1500 block of Forest Avenue.
• Packages reportedly were stolen from homes in the 1000 block of Lake Avenue and 1900 block of Wilmette Avenue.
Feb. 5
• Cash reportedly was stolen from a car left unlocked when the driver reportedly went to the bathroom at a Shell gas station, 399 Ridge Road.
• Fraudulent charges reportedly were made on a resident’s credit card.
WINNETKA
Feb. 4
• Five bank accounts reportedly were opened with Chase Bank using a resident’s personal information without their knowledge.
Feb. 3
• Five accounts (credit card and bank) reportedly were opened in a resident’s name using the resident’s personal information without their permission.
Feb. 2
• More than $5,000 reportedly was taken from a resident’s bank account using the resident’s personal information. A separate bank account was also opened in the resident’s name, according to the report.
GLENCOE
Feb. 5
• Two cars reportedly were entered in the morning hours. Hockey equipment reportedly was stolen from an unlocked car at 8:13 a.m. in the 500 block of Woodlawn Avenue, and a garage door opener and bowling equipment allegedly were taken from an unlocked car at 9:12 a.m. in the 400 block of Drexel Lane.
NORTHFIELD
Feb. 5
• A resident reportedly lost $250 in an email scam in which the sender purported to be a friend of the resident and requested the resident purchase gift cards.
Feb. 1
• A fraudulent check for $7,600 reportedly was given to a business at 1 Northfield Plaza on Jan. 29.
